Foliar Fertilization of Acala Cotton with Nitrogen

G. Solares-Pareja and N.R. Malm

ABSTRACT

Low biurete urea (46-0-0) was used for foliar fertilization of upland cotton. Rates of 5, 10, 15 and 20 lbs N/A were applied on one and two application dates. Time of application was 7 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. No foliar burning was observed for any rate or for any time of application. No significant differences were found for any treatments for total yield. A small but consistent yield increase occurred from foliar fertilization. No differences occurred for the time of day when fertilizer was applied. The highest rates gave the highest yields.
