The Role of Chemical Terminators and Other Plant Regulators

Charles R. Glover

ABSTRACT

Chemical terminators and other plant regulators are used throughout the Cotton Belt as management tools for preparing the crop for a timely and profitable harvest. These materials are used for restricting vegetative growth, facilitating a once-over harvest, and terminating the crop.

Effectiveness of the various materials is largely dependent on the stage and condition of the plants, climatic conditions, and the rates applied. These products have been used alone, in combination with others, and subsequent to one another dependent on the purpose and preference of the producer.
