ABSTRACT
The influence of four gin cleaning treatments on residues of a herbicide, a pesticide and a defoliant on ginned lint was investigated using cotton grown in the Mississippi Delta under typical production practices. Chemical analyses of the ginned lint did not indicate presence of residue from Treflan(1) (Triflualin) or Methyl Parathion (Dimethyl nitrophenyl phosphorothioate). However, residue of DEF (Tributyl phosphorotrithioate) was detected and the level of the defoliant exhibited a linear correlation (R2 = 0.77) with the nonlint or foreign matter content of the ginned lint.
