ABSTRACT

Incorporating the knowlege of experts into machines has been practiced for the last 15 years. The science of artificial intelligence has tried to develop machines and algorithms which mimic intelligent action. Recently, this technology has moved from research into practical applications, and the University of California is developing a cotton crop/pest management expert system. This paper is a discussion of the irrigation component of that system.
