Controlling Annual Grasses with New Herbicides

ABSTRACT

Postemergence herbicides were sprayed in 26 gpa of water containing 1 qt/A 411F type crop oil concentrate (Prime Oil) to barnyardgrass, corn, and sorghum which were either weeds or interplanted in cotton, corn, sunflower, or sugarbeet experiments. Pounds per acre to give 95% or more control of 2.5-, 12-, and 8-inch barnyardgrass, corn, and sorghum, respectively, are: Fusilade 2000, 0.12, 0.12, 0.12; Poast, 0.3, 0.2, 0.2; BAS 517, 0.15, 0.1, 0.1; Assure, 0.09, 0.03, 0.03; DPX 6202-31, 0.045, 0.016, 0.0l6; Verdict, 0.06, 0.06, 0.06; Select, 0.06, 0.12, 0.06; and Whip, 0.12, 0.12, 0.12.
