Modelling Pink Bollworm Establishment and Dispersion in Cotton with the Kriging Technique

Paul W. Borth and Roger T. Huber

ABSTRACT

The spatial distribution of the colonizing parent generation and subsequent within-field dispersion of the Fl and F2 generations of pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella Saunders, in a commercial Arizona cotton field is examined. The spatial dynamics are visualized by the construction of a series of three isarithmic maps depicting pink bollworm density over the field. The Kriged maps are based on model semi-variograms which permit optimal interpolation between sample points.
