Bollworm Resistance in Glandless Cotton

M.F. Schuster and M.P. Gibbs

ABSTRACT

Cotton cultivars and breeder lines were compared in a split-block experiment to compare yields with and without bollworm control. Plant characters included were smooth leaf (Sm(3)), nectariless, and condensed tannins. Bollworm egg numbers were reduced by the Sm(3) character. Square damage was negatively correlated with increasing condensed tannin content. Worm numbers were not related to condensed tannin content.
