Valley Linear: Effects of Mechanical Move Irrigation on Cotton

Gene Hansen and Roger Schulz

ABSTRACT

T. David Bishop doesn't give much thought to the fact he is producing some of Texas' highest cotton yields, like last year's 1,898 pounds to the acre.

"We're only wondering how high yields can go with better care of the crop," says the Texas Winter Garden area grower.

"We've hesitated pushing our nitrogen levels beyond 75 pounds. But our use today of a chemical growth regulator has made 200 pounds of nitrogen on cotton entirely possible."
