ABG-6162: A New Acaricide/Insecticide for Use in Cotton Pest Management

P. Grau

ABSTRACT

ABG-6162 is a liquid formulation of thuringiensin, the thermostable exotoxin associated with certain strains of Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner. It has recently been given he trade name DiBeta(TM). Small plot field trials have shown DiBeta to be effective in controlling spider mites of cotton at rates of 0.074 to 0.148 kg a.i./ha (0.066 to 0.132 lb. a.i./acre). Residual control for several weeks is common. Preliminary evidence also shows Lygus spp. to be controlled within this rate range beneficial arthropod species associated with cotton pest management do not appear to be adversely affected. Large scale trials are planned for 1986 under an EUP program.
