ABSTRACT

Intruder (acetamiprid) is a recently registered insecticide marketed by DuPont Crop Protection for the control of key hemipteran and homopteran pests in cotton including cotton aphid (Aphis gossypii), whitefly (Bemisia sp.), cotton fleahopper (Pseudatomoscelis seriatus) and tarnished plant bug (Lygus lineolaris). Intruder is a member of the chloronicotinyl class of insecticides and received federal registration in mid-summer 2002. In 2003, both small-plot replicated and large-plot commercial trials were conducted to further confirm product use rates and efficacy on labeled pests.

Results from 2003 demonstrated excellent control of aphids across all locations. When applied at 0.6 ounces of product per acre, Intruder provided fleahopper control comparable to other chloronicotinyl insecticides as well as organophosphate and carbamate standards. Results from adjuvant trials demonstrated a trend of improved performance on plantbugs with the addition of high-quality adjuvants.
