ABSTRACT

Kamal M. El-Zik, professor emeritus of the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences, Texas A&M University, retired January 31, 2002. Dr. El-Zik earned his B. Sc. from Alexandria University in 1952, and his M.S. degree in Genetics from Alexandria University in 1960. He later attended Texas A&M University where he completed his Ph.D. degree in Plant Pathology in 1967. For the past 38 years, he has been recognized as an accomplished national and international leader in the areas of cotton breeding, genetics, host-plant resistance and integrating biotechnology and crop improvement.
