Adage ® (thiamethoxam) is a unique systemic seed treatment insecticide that is highly active against early-season cotton aphids (Aphis gossypii), tobacco thrips ( Frankliniella fusca) and western flower thrips (F. occidentalis). Adage ® is positioned as an alternative to in-furrow insecticides due to its consistent performance and excellent safety profile. Field studies conducted in 1999 and 2000 have demonstrated control of thrips for up to 21days and aphid control for up to 28 days. Efficacy of Adage ® at rates of 300 g ai/100 kg of cottonseed (7.65 fl.oz/cwt) are comparable to that of Temik at 3.5 lbs/A in the control of thrips and better than Temik in the control of early season aphids. Furthermore, no differences in yield have been observed between treatments of Adage ® at 300g ai/ 100 kg and Temik at 3.5 lbs/A. However yield and pest data from 1999 and 2000 field studies indicate the performance of Adage ® being more consistent than Gaucho at 250 g ai/100 kg of cottonseed. Under dry conditions, Adage ® ( water solubility of 4100 ppm) has shown improved uptake and performance when compared to Gaucho (water solubility of 560 ppm). |
