Large plot trials were conducted in 1999 in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee to evaluate Steward cotton insecticide. The objective of the trials was to evaluate Steward for the control of Lepidopterous pests and plant bugs utilizing commercial ground application equipment. Steward at a rate of 11.3 fluid ounces per acre and tank mixed with a MSO/OSi adjuvant at a rate of 0.5% v/v was applied in a carrier volume ranging from 8 to 12 gallons per acre.

The results from these studied indicated that Steward provided excellent control of: budworm, bollworm, beet armyworm, loopers and tanished plant bug. It was observed that for optimum control of budworm and bollworm, the application of Steward should be based on an egg threshold and applied to the hatch. Observations throughout the season indicated that Steward has a minimal impact on key beneficial insects.
