A real-time cotton yield sensor for mechanical harvesters in conjunction with GPS are necessary technologies to take precision farming in cotton from a concept to a reality. While a yield monitor is not presently commercially-available, other yield mapping techniques are being implemented to document the spatial variability within cotton fields.
