Ginstar, received a Federal EPA label for use in July 1994 for use on cotton in the western states of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona. Registration was received in California in September of 1994. Field trials have shown Ginstar to be a superior defoliant giving more consistent defoliation than other commonly used defoliants and or desiccants. Ginstar also provides excellent new growth and regrowth control. Ginstar provides green leaf drop and provides clean cotton for harvest.

Ginstar has demonstrated to be effective for use in all cotton producing areas of the West and on all cotton varieties from upland, acala, and pima varieties. Ginstar is also effective for use on stripper varieties in west Texas.

Ginstar is formulated as a 1.5EC containing 1lb. of thidiazuron and 0.5lb. of diuron per gallon. Ginstar has low use rates per acre, little or no odor and fits into good management practices by reducing the amount of a.i. used per acre compared to other commonly used defoliants and desiccants.
