Ovasyn belongs to the triazapentadine class of chemistry and is a target site synergist to insecticides in other classes. Ovasyn fits well alone and in tank mixtures in Pest Management Programs in the West for control of mites, aphids and whiteflies. Ovasyn also is safe to many of the beneficial insects found in cotton.

Data from California (1994-1995) show that Ovasyn alone at 0.25 to 0.75 lb ai/A provided good to excellent control of cotton aphids. Ovasyn tank mixtures at 0.25 lb ai/A with Lorsban at 0.5 lb ai/A or Dibrom at 1.0 lb ai/A also provided effective aphid control and were superior to Lorsban or Dibrom alone or Lorsban + Dibrom tank mixtures. Studies with Ovasyn at 0.25 lb ai/A plus Provado at 0.05 lb ai/A also show promising control of aphid compared to the standards. Ovasyn at 0.5 to 0.75 lb ai/A provided effective mite control in field trials and was comparable to Zephyr at 0.01 lb ai/A, Kelthane at 1.0 to 1.5 lb ai/A and Comite at 1.25 lb ai/A.

Data from Arizona (1993-1995) show that season long programs of Ovasyn at 0.25 lb ai/A tank mixed with Phaser at 0.75 lb ai/A provided comparable whitefly control to the standards and would be an excellent alternative for early season use or in rotation for resistance management.
