	Cotton Achievement Award Honors Lon Mann The late Arkansas cotton ginner Lon Mann, is the recipient of the 2007 Oscar Johnston Lifetime Achievement Award.
	Cotton Service Award Honors Kenneth Hood Mississippi cotton producer/ginner Kenneth Hood is the recipient of the '07 Harry S. Baker Distinguished Service Award.

February 12, 2008

	Chuck Coley Elected Chairman of American Cotton Producers C.B. “Chuck” Coley, a producer from Vienna, GA, was elected chairman of the American Cotton Producers of the NCC for 2008 during the NCC’s annual meeting here on Feb. 7-11.
	National Cotton Council 2008 State Unit Officers Named NCC state unit officers for 2008 were elected at the industrywide organization’s annual meeting here on Feb. 7-11.

	McClendon to Lead the National Cotton Council in ’08 Larry McClendon, a Marianna, AR, cotton ginner, was elected chairman of the NCC for 2008.
	National Cotton Council Names 2008 Directors NCC directors for 2008 were announced at the industrywide organization’s annual meeting on February 7-11.

	NCC Sees Lower U.S. Cotton Production, Tightening Stocks NCC Vice President Dr. Gary Adams said U.S. cotton growers are projected to produce 15.4 million bales in '08 – the smallest since the '98 crop of 13.9 million bales (<a href=news/meetings/2008annual/index.cfm>see more Annual Meeting news</a>).
	West Texas Ginner to Lead NCGA in 2008 The Memphis-based National Cotton Ginners Association elected its officers for 2008 at its annual meeting in Memphis on Feb. 9.

	NCC Survey Suggests U.S. Producers to Plant 9.5 Million Acres of Upland/ELS Cotton in 2008 U.S. cotton producers intend to plant 9.5 million acres of cotton this spring, down almost 12% from '07, according to the NCC’s 25th Annual Early Season Planting Intentions Survey.
	Weil, II Elected 2008 Cotton Council International President Robert S. Weil, II, a Montgomery, AL, cotton merchant, will serve as 2008 president of Cotton Council International.

Industry Delegates' 2008 Resolutions Will Help NCC Meet Challenges in Farm Policy, Trade Arenas
Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and newly confirmed Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer will address the NCC's 70th Annual Meeting, set for Feb. 7-11, at The Peabody Hotel in Memphis.
