On June 4th the EPA published in the federal register a draft pesticide general permit.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is 4 cuts.  All cuts are Keith Menchey, manager of science and environmental issues for the National Cotton Council.

On June 4th the EPA published in the federal register a draft pesticide general permit.  Keith Menchey, manager of science and environmental issues for the National Cotton Council says this is in response to the Sixth Circuit Court decision to invalidate an EPA rule which exempted pesticide applications in to, over or near water from having to have a Clean Water Act permit.

Menchey says the Council and several other producer interest organizations submitted comments in response to the draft permit.

According to Menchey EPA has identified four areas that will be covered under this permit.

Menchey says the Council requests that EPA extend the effective date for states to create their own permits, if needed.
