This week’s Cotton Newsline is 3 cuts. All cuts are Craig Brown, Vice President of Producer Affairs for the National Cotton Council.
Suggested introduction cut 1:
Base Acres determines how many acres on a farm are eligible for Direct and Counter Cyclical payment programs. As part of the implementation of the 2008 Farm Bill, the previous administration terminated the Base Acres provision on all federally owned land. According to Craig Brown, Vice President of Producer Affairs for the National Cotton Council the termination of these base acres was not included in the farm bill approved by Congress.
Suggested introduction cut 2:
Brown says the Council along with other local and national farm and conservation groups urged the current administration to rescind that provision.
Suggested introduction cut 3:
Brown says it is important for producers farming federally owned land to know they are back in the program.
