Secretary Vilsack announced that USDA and the IRS have begun efforts “to ensure that high income individuals and entities who request USDA payments meet income limits set forth in the 2008 Farm Bill.”

Secretary Vilsack announced that USDA and the IRS have begun efforts “to ensure that high income individuals and entities who request USDA payments meet income limits set forth in the 2008 Farm Bill.”  Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council says according to USDA the Farm Service Agency will not receive actual tax data for an individual.

Minnich says the USDA is responding to a report published by the Government Accountability Office or G-A-O.

According to Minnich the USDA overpayments of $49 million over four years is the equivalent to .001% of the $4.8 trillion in stimulus and bailout commitments made in the last six months.
