The Pink Bollworm Program in the United States now encompasses Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is 3 cuts.  All cuts are Dr. Robert Staten, a retired entomologist for USDA who still works with the Pink Bollworm Eradication program.

According to Dr. Robert Staten, a retired entomologist for USDA who still works with the program, the United States has been working cooperatively with Mexico whose program encompasses the state of Chihuahua and has suppression activity started in Northern Sonora.

According to Staten, to control pink bollworm populations, program managers rely very heavily on three “soft technologies.”

Looking to the 2008 season Staten says execution of the program will have to continue to be at its level of excellence that it is now.
