Cotton producers from the Southeast traveled to the Far West, visiting operations in Arizona and California as part of the 2006 Cotton Foundation Producer Information Exchange Program.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is 2 cuts.  All cuts are Kent Smith a producer from Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Cotton producers from the Southeast traveled to the Far West, visiting operations in Arizona and California as part of the 2006 Cotton Foundation Producer Information Exchange Program. Kent Smith, a producer from Rocky Mount, North Carolina who participated in the tour, says there is a vast difference in how cotton is produced in the West versus the Southeast.

Suggested introduction cut 2:

The PIE program will have exchanged over 750 individual U.S. cotton producers from the four different region of the cotton belt by its conclusion in August. The overall goal of the PIE Program is to help producers improve yields and fiber quality. Smith hopes he was able to help other producers on the tour improve their fiber quality by sharing some of his unique experiences.
