The President’s 2007 Budget Proposal calls for over 8 million dollars in cuts to USDA’s Agricultural Research Service programs.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is 3 cuts.  All cuts are Dr. Bill Norman, Vice President of Ginners Services for the National Cotton Council.

The President’s 2007 Budget Proposal calls for over 8 million dollars in cuts to USDA’s Agricultural Research Service programs. According to Dr. Bill Norman, Vice President of Ginners Services for the National Cotton Council, the proposed budget cuts include the closing of the Las Cruces, New Mexico Gin Lab and the Lubbock, Texas Gin Lab.

Suggested introduction cut 2:

Norman says the closing of both labs would affect the whole cotton industry.

Suggested introduction cut 3:

The National Cotton Council and the National Cotton Ginners Association are working with Congress to attempt to reverse these cuts. But Norman says if the proposed budget were to pass there would only be one gin lab in the whole country.
