Fifteen inch row spacing is proving beneficial for West Tennessee cotton producers.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is three cuts.  All cuts are Dr. Jeff Barnes, Crop Systems Specialist for John Deere.

Suggested introduction cut 2:

In 2004, there was nine hundred acres in West Tennessee planted in fifteen inch cotton.  This year there are twelve thousand acres. Barnes says the university research is showing a yield advantage with the smaller spacing.

Suggested introduction cut 3:

Barnes says the fifteen inch row spacing is helping to get the crop in earlier with more first and second position bolls.
