The National Cotton Ginners Association and American Cotton Producers submitted joint comments in response to USDA’s proposed rule that would implement the cottonseed assistance program authorized in the Emergency Hurricane Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2004.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is 4 cuts.  All cuts are Craig Brown, VP of Producer Affairs for the National Cotton Council.

According to Craig Brown, Vice President of Producer Affairs for the National Cotton Council, their concern was the USDA’s proposal would place a significant administration burden on the gins.

Suggested introduction cut 3:

Brown says their comments were submitted by the July 25 deadline and now they wait to see how USDA responds.

Suggested introduction cut 4:

This Act included an appropriation of 10 million dollars to provide assistance to producers and first-handlers of the 2004 crop of cottonseed. According to Brown most of the growers who are eligible for the disaster program are in the southeast.
