Thursday USDA published the June acreage report which estimates U.S. cotton acres planted for the 2005-06 season.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is two stories. The first story is three cuts. All cuts are Shawn Boyd, Agricultural Economist for the National Cotton Council.  The second story is three cuts.  All cuts are Robbie Minnich (pronounced Men-ic), Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council.

According to Boyd the export market will continue to be a major customer for U.S. cotton.

The Senate Finance Committee voted on Wednesday to support the Central American Free Trade Agreement according to Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council.

Story #2 suggested intro cut 2:

On Thursday the House Ways and Means committee approved legislation to implement the Central American Free Trade Agreement.

Story #2 suggested intro cut 3:

The National Cotton Council supports CAFTA because a western hemisphere trading platform provides the US cotton and textile industries the best means of competing with textile products sourced from Asia - primarily China.
