Suggested introduction cut one:
Earlier this spring, Texas’ Saint Lawrence and Panhandle boll weevil eradication zones passed referenda to begin field operations. According to Craig Shook, member of the National Cotton Council’s Boll Weevil Action Committee, this was a crucial step in controlling weevil migration into the high plains and western rolling plains of Texas.
Suggested introduction cut two:
Shook is confident Texas’ quarter of a million acres of cotton not covered in boll weevil eradication zones will be enrolled in the program very soon.
Suggested introduction for cut three:
Texas could be weevil-free within four to five years, but Shook says a lot depends on crop size.
