Suggested introduction cut one:
Jerry Davis produces peanuts, cotton, soybeans, corn, wheat and sod in Southeast Alabama and Northwest Florida. After last week’s hurricane Jeanne, Davis thinks it’ll take his area a minimum of ten to twenty years to recover from damage four hurricanes have caused.
Suggested introduction cut two:
A disaster assistance package is necessary for farmers who have been affected by the 2004 hurricane season, says Davis. With the entire area devastated, Davis thinks without agriculture’s economic trickle down affect, the area may suffer from a depression if disaster assistance is not available.
Suggested introduction cut three:
Davis was expecting an above normal cotton crop this year, with estimates of 1,000 pounds of lint per acre. After wind gusts between 80 and 150 miles per hour, close to 95% of his cotton that was open is now off the stalks, lying on the ground.
