ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to know the response on yield and fiber characteristics of the new cotton variety Cian 95 to different nitrogen rates. This experiment was conducted during 1992. The nitrogen rates evaluated were 0, 40, 80, 120, 160, and 200 kg of N/ha. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replications. Data was taken in total NO3-N, seedcotton yield and fiber quality. The results indicated that with 0 and 80 kg of N/ha there was not enough nitrogen to satisfy the requirements of "Cian 95" during the flowering period. The response of this variety on fiber quality was similar when it was used the rates of 80, 120, 160, and 200 kg of N/ha. However, on seedcotton yield, the higher value was obtained when it was used the highest rate of nitrogen.
