ABSTRACT
Resistance to synthetic pyrethroids has been documented in numerous countries around the world. This resistance has been observed in economically significant species of Coleoptera, Diptera, Homoptera, Lepidoptera, and the Arachnids. The high cost efficacy, handler safety and non-phytotoxic nature of pyrethroids has certainly helped contribute to their problems. Pyrethroid use management programs in some major markets have helped significantly in preserving pyrethroid effectiveness. This presentation will review some of the major markets affected by pyrethroid resistance and mention some areas where management programs have been successful.
