Ovicidal Effects of Larvin® Thiodicarb

F.J. Gonzales and J.L. Allen

ABSTRACT

LARVIN brand thiodicarb, a new "second generation" oxime carbamate, has exhibited excellent ovicidal activity against Heliothis spp. includens and Pseudoplusia includens and Spodoptera spp. in laboratory and field trials. Studies have demonstrated that thiodicarb is effective both as a contact and residual ovicide, with effects which can be greater than 72 hours after treatment. LARVIN brand thiodicarb ovicidal activity was equivalent or superior to that obtained with methomyl or chlordimeform when used in a standard cotton spray schedule. Continued investigations under Experimental Use Permit programs in 1984 confirmed these excellent results against bollworms and armyworms at 0.45-0.6 lbs. a.i./Acre.
