ABSTRACT
The use of High Volume Instrumentation has provided valuable information to the cotton grower and textile manufacturer for improving cotton quality and allowing for more efficient use of bales in the laydowns. Now that this tool is available to test every bale that is sold, the system must be evaluated to ensure that the information provided is truly indicative of the value of the bale of cotton that it represents. Some additional measurement capability will be necessary to make the HVI data more realistically predictive of cotton quality.
