ABSTRACT

Operating parameters of a one-foot-diameter fluidized bed gasifier (FBG) were varied to maximize the production of higher quality activated carbon from cotton gin trash (CGT). Fuel feedrates and fuel-to-air ratio (F/A ratio) were varied to assess the quantity and quality of activated carbon produced. Results showed that a significant increase in the production of activated carbon was achieved. Preliminary evaluations indicate that there was no substantial increase in the quality of activated carbon.
