Annual and Perennial Grass Control in Cotton with Sethoxydim

C.W. Helpert and J.W. Daniel

ABSTRACT

Sethoxydim (Poast®) as an overtop grass herbicide has the potential to solve most of the problems of annual and perennial grasses in cotton production. Research and development trials were conducted in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas for four years by BASF Wyandotte Corporation personnel to determine rates and times of application for the most effective control of these grasses in cotton. Studies consisted of small replicated plots and larger development trials and covered a wide range of climatic and cultural conditions. All rates of Poast were applied with 1 quart/A of oil concentrate. No cotton injury was observed in any of the trials.
