Burst® Yield Booster™: A Low Cost Bioregulant for Cotton Yield Improvement

Jerry V. Mayeux

ABSTRACT

Burst Yield Booster is ai EPA registered bioregulant for use to improve boll set, and retention, aid to increase yields in cotton. We reported at this conference in January 1985 that the company's recommendations for use of the product were: 1/2 pint per acre applied at early bloom; or 2 ounces per acre applied weekly in combination with chlordimeform for a total of four applications beginning with pinhead square.

We also reported that a double application of 112 pint per acre at first bloom and two weeks later showed promise but required further evaluation.

This report will summarize 1984 and 1985 data from the Mississippi Delta and East Texas, where tests were conducted with the most promising rates and times of Burst Yield Booster to increase yields. Tests were at two locations in the, Mississippi Delta, one in 1984 in Mississippi and in Arkansas in 1985. One test in each 1984 an 1985 was set up in the Brazos Bottoms of East Texas. For the purpose of this report, we will discuss the four Burs treatment options that are pertinent to the present us recommendations. These treatments are:

1. Control 2. Four applications of 1-2 ounce Burst Yield Booster beginning at pinhead square applied with chlordimeform weekly 3. 1/2 pint Burst Yield Booster applied at first bloom 4. 1/2 pint per acre applied two weeks after first bloom 5. 1/2 pint applied at first bloom and again two weeks later
